“Karabakh carpet weaving has earned an exceptional place in the national culture of Azerbaijan. The main source of inspiration for the design is the "Shadda," one of the pileless carpet types from the Karabakh carpet school. According to popular belief, "Shadda" possesses mystical powers. Its artistic composition typically depicts caravan scenes with camels and horses. "Shadda" is the carpet to which the young women direct their wishes on the last Wednesday of the Novruz holiday. The positive energy of these carpets is believed to help these wishes reach God quickly. This belief is still alive in many regions of Azerbaijan today. It is no coincidence that, starting from the 2nd millennium, Azerbaijani carpets traveled along the Great Silk Road, carrying their mission of bringing peace and comfort, spreading from East to West. Karabakh carpets from the 16th to the 19th centuries, both with and without pile, have become treasures in the Berlin Art Museum, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, museums in Paris, Vienna, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and the world’s most famous galleries. The main feature of the table is the symbol of prosperity—the camel. The combination of the beautiful colors of Azerbaijani nature and the idea of the carpet, as well as the characteristics of Karabakh carpets from the Barda, Agjabedi, Shusha, and Jabrayil regions, further enhances the strength and power of this creation.”
