“Karabakh carpet art has earned a unique place in the history of the national culture of the Azerbaijani people. The main source of inspiration for the design is one of the types of Karabakh carpets, the pileless "Shaddé" from the Karabakh carpet school. According to popular belief, "Shaddé" possesses mystical powers. Its artistic design often depicts scenes with camel and horse caravans. "Shaddé" is the carpet that our young girls would direct their wishes to on the last Wednesday before Novruz. The positive energy of this carpet helped these wishes reach God more quickly. This belief still lives on in many regions of Azerbaijan. It is no coincidence that since the second millennium, Azerbaijani carpets have traveled along the Great Silk Road with caravans, spreading their mission of peace and comfort from East to West. The carpets of Karabakh, woven in the 16th-19th centuries, have become the adornment of the Berlin Museum of Arts, the Metropolitan in New York, museums in Paris, Vienna, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and the most famous galleries in the world. The main feature of the carpet is the symbol of abundance, the camel. The beautiful colors of Azerbaijani nature blend with the idea of peaceful creation, as well as the unique characteristics of carpet samples from the Karabakh carpet school, particularly those from the Bərdə, Ağcabədi, Şuşa, and Cəbrayıl regions, making the composition even stronger.”
